Friday, December 3, 2010, 14:53:00 GMT by Andy Beal
Just when we thought the Viacom vs YouTube copyright infringement case was finally behind us , Viacom goes and gets all zombie on us-and raises it from the dead. If you need background on the lawsuit, we have a boatload of information on it , but bottom line is this: Viacom sued Google claiming its popular TV shows were being illegally uploaded to YouTube. Google claimed safe harbor protection. Google won. Viacom is now appealing 'albeit in an unappealing way.

PSA Video: Social Media Will Ruin Your Life'But Please Retweet This Anyway
Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 14:58:16 GMT by Andy Beal
This parody public service announcement is hilarious and at the same time, disturbing. I LOL'd a number of times, and immediately thought "I'll blog this and get lots of page views, tweets, and Facebook shares." I don't know if that means I need to watch it again, or step away from the computer. One of my favorite lines: "What do you know, you don't even have any followers!" Please retweet and like this post, so I can get my next rush.

Monday, November 22, 2010, 14:54:04 GMT by Andy Beal
If you recently bought a Google TV device, I hope you kept the receipt! If you're on the fence, then this might convince you that Google's foray into set-top boxes is dead on arrival: Viacom just yanked access to its content. Viacom has joined the ranks of NBC, ABC, Fox, and CBS-all of which have blocked Google TV in some form or another. Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, and Nickelodeon are just a few of the Viacom owned networks that bring up the dreaded "sorry,

Google's 4-Pack for Branded Searches: A Subtle Penalty for RipOff Report?
Thursday, November 18, 2010, 15:02:42 GMT by Andy Beal
Back in August, we reported that Google was testing a change to its algorithm that would see more than the standard two-results per web site-if it could be sure that doing so would match the searcher's intent. Yesterday, the search giant announced a small revision to that rollout-one that I believe offers hope to those with a negative reputation. As before,

Yes, the Trackur API will free companies from the Trackur dashboard and instead allow them to take our data in either XML or JSON formats and do with it as they please! What are some of the ways the Trackur API can be put to good use?

It's been over a year since we shared the awesome "Is Social Media a Fad?" video. Well, at yesterday's PubCon keynote panel, they played an updated version of the video. Enjoy! Worthing noting? This video is now 6 months old, so perhaps we need a third version. Any takers?

Google TV: Web Meets TV. TV Says Get Off My Lawn!
Friday, October 22, 2010, 14:26:31 GMT by Andy Beal
Google has never had much luck breaking into the TV business. Its latest foray, Google TV , could end up being a non-starter as well. It's hardly a big secret that TV networks and Google haven't exactly seen eye-to-eye, but the battlefield has typically been within your web browser. In other words, Google's turf. Now that Google is taking the battle to your actual television set, the big networks are fighting back . In fact,

Weber Shandwick is one of my favorite PR firms because Dr. Leslie Gaines-Ross-its Chief Reputation Strategist-is a kindred spirit, when it comes to reputation management. In particular, she's fascinated by the role of the CEO in a company's reputation management efforts and her latest report, Socializing Your CEO , does a great job of analyzing the social media habits of CEOs of the world's largest 50 companies.
