A Perfect Storm for Local Based Services and Advertising at #ILMWest

This morning at ILM West in San Francisco, Gillian Heltai )Senior Director with comScore( presented some great data on mobile usage in the US. The data reveals what she described as a perfect storm for local based services and advertising. First lets talk technology: 3 out of every 4 mobile subscribers own a device with GPS functionality. Over 1 in 3 own a smartphone and in 2013 that number will reach 50%. Both of those numbers are huge for local based services!

Im psyched! Why am I psyched? Im psyched because next week is the ILM West conference in San Francisco and I will be there to cover all of the goodness for the Microsoft Advertising Community. Local digital advertising is no longer right around the corner its here. Local search revenues in 2010 were $5.1 billion and BIA Kelsey projects this number to reach $9.1 billion in 2015. Searcher Behavior In A Multi-Platform World at SMX West
