BGC Gives eBay "Buy" Rating
BGC Partners, a firm with roots dating back to 1945, has new confidence in eBay. Today, BGC upgraded its outlook on eBay's stock from hold to buy, and raised its price target by 25 percent, as well. The new price target is $35, up from $28. That's not a huge vote of confidence, considering that eBay's stock is currently trading at $27.77, but at least shows BGC doesn't think eBay is stagnant. Also, as reported by StreetInsider.com , a BGC analyst stated,

Researchers Study Dialects, Slang On Twitter
Much as someone born and raised in Boston probably won't sound the same as a person who grew up in California, people don't always tweet alike. And while that may appear obvious, Carnegie Mellon researchers studied the presence of slang and different dialects on Twitter and discovered some interesting facts. One point about the methodology: this was a little more involved than just looking up a few Twitter users and making observations.

Facebook Extends Lead Over Orkut In India
For a long time, supporters of Google's experiments in social media were able to point to Orkut's success in Brazil and India. In those countries, at least, the social network was dominant. But Orkut fell behind in India last year, and new stats from Experian Hitwise show that Facebook's made impressive gains since then. With a share of 5.26 percent, Facebook now ranks as the third most popular site in India in terms of visits.

Bing Integrates Local TV Listings
Every evening, tens of millions of people enter their homes, set down their keys, and waste little time in turning on the TV. Bing's taken a good shot at becoming part of their lives, then, by integrating local TV listings into its regular search results. To be clear: this is not Bing's answer to Google TV. Then again, given how Google TV has failed to find a lot of fans, that's probably a good thing. A post on the Bing Search Blog instead explained,

South Korean Police Find Google Violated Privacy Laws
Five months ago, local police officers raided Google's offices in South Korea, and what they found may cause quite a lot of trouble for the company. A police report's indicated that Google illegally collected private data with its Street View cars, and criminal charges could result. The fact that Google recorded emails and passwords sent over WiFi networks shouldn't surprise anyone at this point; Google admitted it in October after other experts came to the same conclusion.

Randi Zuckerberg, head of marketing at Facebook and sister of its CEO, tweeted earlier,
