Viral Marketing Idea Friday - Pottery Business
I have to admit - todays post about viral marketing for a Pottery business is the first one I got asked in a long time that has actually made me think. I enjoyed it, and had fun and hope to share some good ideas with Josh Garner )the one who asked the question( last week. The thing with a boring industry like Pottery )at least for those of us not into it( is you have to figure out a way to make it fun, and fun for everyone.

Reputation Management is More Than Just Spamming Squidoo
I try to pay attention or note common questions that get sent to us regarding SEO and what have you. By far the number one repeated question we get is in the Reputation Management space, "I have created a page at all the social sites and we are still not able to push out the negative results?" I have had my share of posts talking about filing out social media/news sites in order to protect the top then,

Thanks to Paul for submitting this last Friday in the form of a comment . This one I have so many ways to run with, that I actually had a hard time narrowing it down. I think I will give more examples of what a Financial Planning Company/Industry can do with viral marketing in later posts as well, because there are just so many. For now,

What Marketing Lesson Can We Learn From A Coffee Substitute?
I don't think very many people even know what Postum is, but it is a coffee substitute for those that want a hot beverage in the morning, )or anytime( but do not want the buzz of a regular cup of coffee. I happen to know of Postum very well, having a Dad who was an avid drinker of the beverage. You may be asking yourself what does Postum have to do with this SEO blog of mine, or viral marketing for that matter? I don't know exactly how I can tie it in,

Don't Get Jacked by Social Media "Lessers"
Over the past month I have read a lot of blogs talking about horror stories of their premium content that they took weeks even months to write getting submitted by social media users that have poor quality accounts. They go on to talk about how they get jacked because the person submitting has no friends or they don't know how to submit and their articles go no where but to the abyss of the dead pool. Easy Solution: Change the URL The solution is very easy,

So What If You Are A Brand New Business, You Need To Think About Your Reputation
I really enjoy teaching people/clients about everything they can do to help them with their brand awareness and management, but there is something that does frustrate me. A majority of the time when I am working with a brand new )online( business owner, and I start to talk to them about the not-so traditional ways of marketing like Social Media to help them with their reputation management, they do not take me as serious as they need to be.

My 4 Year Old Told Me To "Google It"
Have you ever told yourself - "Man, those are two hours )or insert your number here( of my life that I will never get back." Well, I feel like that today after spending several hours reading nothing but junk. So, with all this back and forth )debate( crap I have been reading about link buying, Google bashing, Pubcon 2007 and annoying reads )I mean we really have heard it all( I thought I would share something upbeat and funny that my son told me today.

Use Twitter To Boost Your Marketing Strategy, No Really
You can use Digg , StumbleUpon , Reddit and Mixx to increase your sites traffic, links, and branding which has a result on your bottom line, you can network in Facebook , Linkedin or Myspace to get more leads and referrals, but, what can you do to make a buck with Twitter ? Twitter users out there I'm sorry if I offend, but I am too busy to use anything just to tell my long lost cousin where I got my lunch,

A Simple Google Search Can Save You Big Money
Ok, I am doing this post because the holiday season is upon us, and it reminded me of a useful tip )I use, and was taught a few years back( that can help web surfers save big bucks. Plus, we can all use a little reminder now and again. There may also be some readers out there that are new to this blog, and the information provided. When I was renewing some domains this morning, during the checkout process I was asked if I had a "coupon code",

Toyota Needs a New SEO
You may not think the following is a big deal, as I won't be talking about top 10 rankings, but the number one spot, but when you are a company as large as Toyota and you don't rank number one for specific car searches, there is a problem in my opinion. If I was over web/marketing at Toyota I would not be pleased. *Im sure this is a timley post and in a month or two this will no longer be the case, but none the less I think it is a big deal.

Great Case Study On Blog Promotion
O.K. before you keep reading I have to apologize, I hate case studies and examples of sites that don't show the sites involved. One of the things that Mat and I try to do to set us apart from a lot of blogs is to give specific ideas on how to do things, but in the case study below I can't. We are growing and have a lot of clientèle that just won't let us share their info, or even mention them as a client. That is fine,

5 Things I Am Thankful For
My daughter came home )from school( today with a list of 5 things she was thankful for, and was asked to share with someone at home, and have them share, and then ask someone as well. I thought it would be appropriate to post the 5 things I am most thankful for here, during this Thanksgiving season. I have never really done one of these kind of lists, but with my daughter asking me to share, I thought it the perfect opportunity to do so. 1. Family 2. Friends 3.

Twitter Getting Some Prime Time CSI Love
Just wondering if anyone else noticed Twitter showing up on last nights episode of CSI )Las Vegas - )which I freaking love((? I do my best to help )new to internet( marketers embrace social media, I blog all the time about how important Social Media is )even for the veterans of Internet marketing that still have not jumped on(, but if having Twitter show up during one of the biggest shows on television is not enough to convince you, then I don't know what is.

E-Tourism Summit Pictures
Just wanted to share some pictures with everyone from our recent speaking trip at the E-Tourism Summit in San Fran. The picture I took of the city at night is probably one of the coolest pictures I have ever taken in my life. All Chris needs is laser beams coming out of his eyes to make this picture better! I am no photoshop hacker though ' )sadly( This picture is the walk of death we had to climb everyday just to get to the hotel we were speaking at. I am out of shape bad!
